The making of it was messy, but good fun and great for kids as long as you have some supervision going on.. Basically, it goes like this:.

I used the stuff in the can, not the spray paint, although I really love the spray paint version as well.The first coat seemed to go on really thin, but then magically after the second coat, it was pretty much done.

I did a really thin third coat just to be safe, but I don’t really think it was needed..The can says to wait 4 hours between coats, but honestly, in all of my chalkboarding experience, I’ve never waited more than 20 minutes and they’ve always turned out perfectly.It really was a quick and painless project.

I added in some simple ceramic knobs to finish if off..I let it dry for a few hours, then I came back to it.

Before you can start drawing on your chalkboard, you need to “season” it.

This basically means that you rub chalk all over it and then you smear it around with a rag  really quickly.Just checking if you’re still reading.).
