When you think of a dining room, you think of it coming with a few basic things that make it a bit of a special space for special occasions and fond family memories: A chandelier or some kind of special hanging light fixture, pretty flooring, maybe some built-in cabinetry to hold china and crystal.

Plus we home decor types just seem to love ladders for some reason.Every time I post a picture with one of my real old ladders in it, I seem to get roughly 3000 compliments on it.

So another ladder is always a good idea and I gave it a try.. Well, it worked!It did turn out pretty cute, but it’s a little more creepy and Halloweeny than harvesty.It’s still fun though!.

Here’s how it happened:.We have this big bin of wood scraps sitting in the middle of our driveway right now.

All little leftover pieces from the playhouse we’ve been working on.

So much project potential!.In fact, if you’ve been around here for awhile, then you may already be using it.

All you do is whip up a batch of.my favorite plain cookie recipe.

..and then you stick it in the fridge!.You don’t need a single different or additional ingredient, you just need to chill the dough for about 30 minutes and it becomes perfect for rolling out and using for cookie cut outs!
